New York City - Went to Ellis Island to see where the immigrants entered United States to find out that this is where only the passengers that were in steerage went. (that is only the passengers that had little or no money) So not everyone came in through Ellis Island. They showed families coming in with very little baggage to start their new life. I am sure it was a scary experience coming to a new land, a new language and new traditions. Karen and I took the ferry over to Manhattan to do some shopping, people watching and see some sites. We walked to Battery Park to catch a tour bus told the guy which tour we wanted and off we went, only one thing he did not collect any fare. We used the subway system also to get around. Free App for the Smart Phones to get around on the subway system, put in where you are and where you want to go and it tells you which subway to take, makes it easy. Karen and Roger had friends in New Jersey so we had a car and were able to get to the grocery store.
