October 2007

Potest Fieri on the hard at Thunder Bay Yacht Club. After many days of rain finally got the boat shrink wrapped and put away for the season. It is always sad when this happens.

September 8, 2007

Loon Harbour to Thunder Bay. A beautiful sunny day. Lots of boats out fishing as the Pine Bay Fish Derby was on. We have a transient slip at the marina and hopefully we will secure a full time slip for next year. Danny stayed on the boat that night to visit some of his friends, I went home with Sydney and Abby who were excited to be home.

September 7, 2007

Bowman Island to Loon Harbour. More of the same weather. Thankfully Potest Fieri is comfortable to travel in on those kind of days. Tried to dock at Black's Warf, not enough water. Secured the boat in at Loon Harbour. A really nice spot. Danny saw a bear on the shore. Starting to cool down in the evening.

September 6, 2007

We stayed at Bowman Island again. Lots of rain today with fog. John and Gary left for Nipigon in the afternoon. Visited Ava and Gord Walters at there camp for cocktails in the evening.

September 5, 2007

Rossport to Bowman Island. We left Rossport in the fog and it stayed that way for the day. We were shielded by the islands until we were at Grotto Point where we had a rolling sea from the south on the side of the boat. Danny lost his new binoculars on the floor. Met up with John Zechner and Gary Lange on the Anica Lee. Rafted to them for the night at Gary's dock. Danny helped them install a sun deck railing.

September 4, 2007

Stayed in Rossport. It was clear and sunny. We had lots of visitors. Did laundry and cleaned. Went for dinner at mom and dads'.

September 3, 2007

Took a slow cruise to Rossport, weather and seas were great, with Joe and the boys meeting us at Winston Point. Stayed at the dock rafted to Tug of the North. Went on an afternoon cruise with Michelle, Joe, Bret, Mark, Mom, Dad, Laurie and Karen Furlonger and Rona.

August 31, - September 2, 2007

Otter Head to Slate Island. Followed the shoreling to Pulpwood Harbour where we were planning to stay, but we decided last minute to head for the Slates while we had nice weather. Anchored in Pike Bay. Entering the bay was a challenge. Did see some caribou in the evening, but not as plenitful as in other years.

Fished the next day but never caught anything. A fair bit of activity with small boats, kayaks and canoes. Two sail boats joined us in the evening. Gypys Soul and Simba out of the Appostles.

We stayed an extra day at the Slates as they were forcasting a strong south west wind with rain in the morning. Took the dingy out to the lake to see how the waves. Did not do to much because of the weather.

August 30, 2007

Quebec Harbour to Otter Head. Cool in the morning and then turned sunny in the afternoon with light west winds. We attempted to go into Dave's Harbour but entrance a little to shallow for comfort. Lake Superior with its new water level is a whole new lake. We anchored in Otter Cove and took the dingy to Dave's and walked to the lighthouse for some exercise. Ran into another boat out of Sault Ste. Marie 'Alpha Seven' 4 guys fishing. They seemed to be catching fish and shared with us. Danny did try with no success.

August 29, 2007

Left Sault Ste. Marie for Michipichoten Island in the dark. It was a bumpy ride but the boat handled well. The sun shone the whole day so we were nice and warm. It was a long day for the dogs and Sydney did get sea sick. Did not see any pleasure boats but there were lots of ships. The fishing village in Quebec Harbour is starting to show its age. It was a beautiful evening. We saw 8 caribou walking the shoreline including a great big buck with a nice rack. We also saw 3 beaver busy making a house.

August 26 - 28, 2007

We are in Sault Ste. Marie for a few days always a good stop. Visited with friends and went out for dinners. Heading for Lake Superior tomorrow. Will have favourable winds tomorrow. Will spend the day getting to Quebec Harbour on Michipicotin Island.

August 25, 2007

July 30, 2007

Another big trip. St. Ignace to Mackinaw City. We had a two hour wait as we did not have reservations. Went to the Grand Hotel and had cocktails at the Cupola Bar which is on the very top of the hotel. Great view. The town was very busy and crowded. Beautiful weather but still rough in the marina with all the ferry traffic.

July 29,2007

We travelled from Mackinaw City to St. Ignace. The other side of the bridge. Sunny and calm. Very hot!! Fuelled the boat and then did the tourist thing around town.

July 26 - 29, 2007

We headed for Mackinaw City, stopped at the Mackinac Island to wish our friend on the Azure good luck as they were racing in the Mackinac to Little Current Sail Boat Race. We we are trying our luck again. Headed to the Benjamin Islands again. Weather was cool but sunny. Met up with a boat named Mystic who had their grandchildren aboard who happened to be the same age as Ella and Evan. Did some more exploring with the kids. Ella swam off the back of the boat. Finally a perfect boating/anchoring day.

July 20, 2007

Decided to take the kids to Science North in Sudbury to wait out the bad weather. Had a great time. Ella liked the butterfly exhibit while Evan like the man tooting.

Marble sized hail
The two new captains

July 17 - 19, 2007

Well kids have arrived. Went to Cow Island in the Bay of Islands. Ella did christen the boat on the way there. Explored in the dingy with the two new captains. Warm day and evening. The next day we headed for the Benjamins. Hot and sunny. Met up with Mike and Debbie Brady and Lisa and Jim Brady. Lori, Danny, and kids went for a walk on the flat rocks to burn off some energy. The winds picked up that evening. Storm warning. The next morning the skies turned black and we were ankle deep in hail. We were safe tucked away in our little hole. The winds stayed high but we decided to make our way to the marina so the kids could go to shore.

July 13 - 16, 2007

Sat in Little Current out of bad weather, heavy rains on Saturday. Met up with Rolonde and Murray Welsh and went out to dinner at Red Lodge. Enjoyable day was windy but no rain. Little Current docks were busy this weekend as there was a rendezvous from Bayport Marina in Midland. We waited for the arrival of Lori, Ella and Evan.

Little Detroit 100' wide by 100' deep

July 10 - 13, 2007

Spent another night at Milford Haven with the Davidson's. Went kayaking beautiful evening. Headed for Beardrop Harbour as they were calling for yet another storm. Gale winds in the North Channel. Spent 2 nights there. White caps in harbour. No sleep that night. Two sail boats anchor let go. We left and headed for Oak Harbour near Spanish. We went through Little Detroit a channel that is 100' wide by 100' deep. We anchored in Oak Harbour out of the winds. Danny helped two women anchor so they would not cross our anchor. Calling for a miserable weekend so we headed for Little Current. Seems to be no relief from rain and winds.

July 5 - 9, 2007

Joan and Don Davidson with Skipper

Headed for Hilton Beach on St. Joseph Island. Severe weather alert came on radio so we stayed in Gore Bay. Storm hit around midnight. We continued our trip the next day.
