Chub Cay Marina
Pool at Marina
Villa at the Marina
North Bimini, Bahamas to Chub Key, Bahamas - Beautiful sunny with 15 - 20 knot east winds switching to 25 - 30 knot winds. Rough day with lots of heavy spray, the boat is crusted in salt. It was a long day as we went 90 miles. I was not a happy camper especially when the last couple of hours were in 8 foot plus seas. We set a new record for marina prices 4.35 / foot + .65 / kw and .40 / gallon for water. It was all worth it to be tied to a dock as we did have a heavy rain storm around midnight.
The seas were bad again so we sucked it up and paid again. The storm ended any use electricity as the 800 kw generator blew up in the storm and we had to use our generator.

No Name Harbour to North Bimini, Bahamas - We left at 7.00 a.m. and arrived at 12.00 p.m. Sunny and warm. From Mileage 5 to 15 we encountered rough seas 4 to 6 feet on the beam, the rest of the trip was 2 - 4 foot from the east or on the bow. The Bahamas is beautiful, the water is very blue and you can see to the bottom. Seen an abundance of flying fish but could not get any pictures. Seen a few ships go buy. Cleared customs at Bimini - No Problem Man! Walked around Alice Town and decided this is not the place to take our bikes down. The streets are very narrow and they drive like maniacs. We did go to the beach and picked up some big shells . Stopped at one of the local establishments for some refreshments.

Boats Staging to Go to the Bahamas
Beach at Bill Baggs State Park
Beautiful Home Just Goes On and On
Iguana Sunning Himself

Key Largo, Tarpon Basin to No Name Harbour, Key Biscayne, South Miami - It was a beautiful sunny day, a little wind but all in all not bad. We stopped in and Angelfish Creek anchorage area to see how many boats were staging to go to the Bahamas but there was none. It was all Mangrove swamp, no place to go shore for the dogs. Great call as No Name Harbor was beautiful with bicycle and hiking trails as it is a State Park. Lots of boats all staging to go to the Bahamas on Saturday morning. We did dinghy over to Hurricane Harbor to check out the beautiful houses and high price real estate. We did see plenty of iguanas sunning themselves on the cement break walls.

Happy St. Patrick's Day - We are finally leaving this marina. Judi and David Campbell came over to say goodbye and untie our lines. It was pouring rain so we stayed until it slowed down. We have had a wonderful stay here but we are staging ourselves to head for the Bahamas on Saturday morning if we get a weather window. There can't be any north or north component in the winds. We did stay in Tarpon Basin and went out with Sterling and Judy to the Pilot House for a St. Patrick's Day Dinner. We are going to meet up with everyone again in May. We have met so many wonderful local people in the Keys it was hard to leave.

David Making Himself a Fish Sandwich
Going to Hughes Home on the Canal
Danny with the Mahi Mahi
Hughes Cleaning the Fish with David Observing
David Campbell and Danny got up at the crack of dawn to go to Key West to meet Hughes Smith to go fishing. Judi and I went to our exercise class and followed them down to spend the night. Took the dogs, but it was too hot to leave them in the car, 85 F. So we took the dogs to the Coach store shopping. Did not have much time to shop as we got a call from the guys to pick them up to take them to their car. I think it was a ploy so we would not have much time to spend any money. But I did manage. The guys had a great time fishing, the water was rough, caught two Mahi Mahi and a Baracuda. We went out for dinner with Pam and Hughes and went down to see the antics of spring break on Duval Street.

Wire Haired Dachshund on the Race Course
This weekend at the marina park they had Woofstock. Complete with non-stop music. The Keys Humane Society had an adoption area and all the dogs they brought were adopted even had to go back to get extras. A real success. They had dog races and other activities for the dogs. Best trick, best dance, best costume.

Karen and Roger with Louie from Karen Anne which is in Stuart, Florida drove down for a visit before Roger headed to China for work. Roger made his famous raspberry martins before we went out to dinner to the Fish Club with Judi and David Campbell. A nice place for dinner. The next day we went on a little driving tour, stopped at the World Wide Sportsman where the guys wanted to stop but us ladies did the shopping as they have a great women's department. Roger and Danny waited in the car for us. We went to Wahoo's for lunch before they had to leave to go back to their boat. A beautiful location, on the ocean side, we sat outside and watched the kite surfers and boats come in and out of the marina.

At Hughes' Home After Fishing
Sharon and Ian Macadam came for a visit. We went out to watch the Canada vs. U.S. Olympic Hockey game. We had our own private bar. It was great for us that the Canadian team won but a great game. The guys went out fishing on Monday at Key West with Hughes Smith an retired navy fighter pilot. They had a good time but did not catch anything that you would eat. Barracudas and Bonitas. Us girls went out to lunch and did some shopping. No pictures.
