Tire Shredding Factory on Fire
Helicopter Dropping Motor for Bridge
Mileage 324.5 to Joliet Illinois - We left at 7.00 a.m along with Barefoot Shoes, Karen Anne and Jejuda to meet up with Buster White the tow boat. We were third in line with at about 1 hour per boat. We preceded into Joliet with another delay the railway bridge was stuck in the down position with 9 foot of clearance. Tied to the wall across from the casino, free dock complete with power and water. There was 8 looper boats and numerous tugs and barges all waiting for the bridge to be fixed. This was an exciting place to stay as at dusk there was a tremendous fire at the tire shredding factory, flames up to 500 feet. The bridge was fixed around 5.30 on Monday but we decided to let the barges make there way down the river. We did get to walk around downtown and see small town U.S.A. Last evening fire, this evening a man trying to jump off the bridge, police and ambulance came to take him off the bridge.
