The Ditch 25 Miles Long and 280 Feet Wide
Tie Up at the Jamie Whitten Lock
Lock 85 Feet Down
Grand Harbor Marina Mississippi to Smithville Marina Mississippi - Calm and clear in the morning, overcast the rest of the day ending with heavy rain and fog. We went down a big ditch for 25 miles which is 280 feet wide. We now are starting to go down to the Gulf. We are now 414 feet above sea level. We went down the Jamie Whitten Lock which is the first and tallest lock southbound. It dropped us down 85 feet. Darkness seemed to arrive early today and we did the last five miles in darkness, rain and fog, made for a few tense moments. The marina is in the middle of swamps and farmland.
