The Sandy Beaches of Killbear Provincial Park

Parry Sound, Ontario to Anchorage Killbear Provincial Park - Sunny, warm with light winds.  This morning we stocked up on groceries, water and a pump out before we left Parry Sound.  We left Roger and Karen there as they were driving back to Indianapolis for work.  At the park it was very active as it was Saturday, seen lots of people swimming, kayaking and hiking on the rocks.  Danny tried to repair the ice maker but no luck.  We will have to make ice the old fashioned way until we can get a part.  A very quiet night.

Anchorage at Echo Bay to Parry Sound - Beautiful day, no wind, temperature will be around 28 C.  Stayed at Big Sound Marina, which is the city marina and only 4 boats counting us, just like the Maytag repair man, loneliest people in town.  We needed a marina fix to charge our batteries and needed to buy some grocery shopping as we were out of fruits and vegetables.  We went out for dinner to one of the local establishments that we could view the bay.  Cooled down in the evening, first time we needed a jacket for a while.

Anchorage Waheen Bay to Anchorage Echo Bay - It was really hot 32 C, no wind but of course there was another thunder storm - seems to happen every second day.  I finally gave up on the snake and went swimming with everyone else.  We also took the hood ornaments down, the kayaks and went for a few paddles around Echo Island.  Roger even went with Danny. We did go to Henry's for fish and chips as it was only 2 miles from the anchorage, so we hopped in the dingy and went.  On Thursday another Looper boat came in, Alacrity, with Barbara and Craig on board.  We were invited to go to their boat for appetizers and cocktails.  Great time was had by all.

Longuissa Bay to Wahneen Bay off of 12 Mile Bay - It was a warm, clear, 24 C day. A perfect day for a cruise will little traffic.  Danny took the dingy for a ride to get some milk with Roger and Karen.  I stayed behind.  On Tuesday the temperature rose to 32 C. I did not go swimming still thinking about that snake.  Roger and Danny managed to go fishing, the only thing they caught were bass and they were out of season.  Plan B for dinner.  We had a weather squall about 4 p.m. with 40 knot winds and heavy driving rain.  Roger and Karen did get caught in the squall and came back to the boat looking like drowned rats.  Thanks for taking our garbage to the marina.

Bayport Marina, Midland to Longuissa Bay off of Musquash Channel - The weekend was very hot 31 C expect for Fathers' Day when it cooled down with a few showers.  I welcomed the showers.  I'm a true northerner.  Roger, Karen, Danny and I took the dingy
to do some exploring up the Musquash River, the river is low so we portaged the dingy up the rapids only to go around the corner to find another one.  Danny spent some time in the water to keep cool after seeing what I saw I decided to take a shower.  You can sure tell we are in the shadow of the CN Tower meaning Toronto as the bay quickly filled up.  From out boat we could see 34 boats on anchor and many more in the different bays.

Chimney Bay back to Bayport Marina - Boosted the engine again and off we went. It was very cool today with 20 knot winds.  We dropped off Dick and Doreen and Danny changed the engine starting batteries and sorted out a few minor issues. Everything is perfect again.  He sure is not a happy camper when things are not working perfectly.  I do know that BOAT stands for BREAK OUT ANOTHER THOUSAND.  Good thing we do enjoy it.

Doreen, Dick and Danny Heading for Honey Harbour for Ice Cream
Danny went to start the engine and of course it did not start.  He gave it a boost and away we went.  This of course is our shakedown cruise and he figured maybe the starting batteries just needed to be charged.  This was not the case.  Doreen Steele and Dick Marcella were our guests for our cruise to Chimney Bay on Beausoleil Island which is one of the Canadian National Parks.  We had a great time exploring and playing cards.  The weather was very warm the first day but cooled right down the next.  The boat got covered in shad flies which was the first time this season

We stayed at Bayport Marina to ready the boat for the summer.  They finished the waxing.  Danny changed the house batteries.  We had new flooring installed in the cockpit of the boat called Plasteak which is a vinyl flooring that looks like teak. Looks great.  I did the shopping for supplies.

June 5, 2012

They finished waxing the hull in the late afternoon and Vic stayed to put it in the water. They will finish the waxing over the next couple of days while the boat is at the slip. We will be staying in Midland for a few days to do a few boat chores and get supplies.

May 27 - June 4, 2012 We left Kelowna, B.C. on May 27. Stopped in Thunder Bay to visit our daughter Lori and family and then went to Schreiber to visit my parents and other family. A quick trip across the country. Arrived in Midland to the promises of a waxed boat which did not happen until we arrived even though we were told that it was finished. Oh well it did happen and the boat looks brand new again. Karen and Roger Montembeault arrived the day before and we met them at the boat as they were getting the Karen Anne ready for travelling also. Nice to see them again and we will be travelling with them off and on for the summer.
