Cumberland Island, Georgia to Jekyll Island, Georgia - Sunny, cool and windy in the morning. We had a good cruising day with Judi and David off of Jejuda. Passed the submarine base at Kings Bay. We took the historic tour on the little train at Jekyll Island. We seen where the rich and famous lived in lavish homes and those who did not want to build a home lived in the first condo in the U. S. Apparently when these gentlemen met at their Hunt Club they had 1/6 of the worlds wealth. Quite impressive. You might recognize some of these names, J.P.Morgan, Joseph Pulitzer, Marshall Field, John J. Hill, Everett Macy, William Rockefeller, Cornelius Vanderbilt and Richard Teller Crane. During World War II, the U.S. government asked the members not to use the island, due to concerns for the security of the powerful owners. They never went back. The island was sold to the State of Georgia in 1947, and is now a park.
